The FlexStor-NAS™ 1220dz 3Gb/s SATA RAID NAS server is a high-availability NAS appliance that incorporates 10,000RPM storage capacities of 432GB to 1,800GB (1.8TB) or 7200RPM storage capacities of 3,000GB (3TB) to 9,000GB (9TB) with the latest RAID and NAS technologies. High performance features include single or dual Woodcrest Dual-Core Xeon processors, up to 16GB system memory, and dual 10/100/1000 copper gigabit Ethernet connectivity. The FlexStor-NAS 1220dz is also available with a single or dual Clovertown Quad-Core Xeon processor upgrade option for supreme processor performance.

This fault-tolerant data storage comes in a convenient, space-saving 3U Rackmount chassis with hot-swappable drives and trays, redundant 800 Watt hot-swappable 1+1 power supply, and an advanced cooling system. Your data is protected with your choice of RAID 0, 1, 1E, 3, 5, 6 and JBOD across twelve hot-swappable SATA disk drives on a high-performance 3Gb/s SATA RAID controller.

The FlexStor-NAS 1220dz provides two RAID Certified 36GB 10,000RPM WD Raptor disk drives mirrored at RAID 1 specifically for the operating system. These disks and RAID controller are completely independent of the data storage array.

Installation and setup are a breeze, allowing the FlexStor-NAS 1220dz to be up and running in about 15 minutes after it is unpacked from the box. Additional software, including backup client or server applications, may be loaded on the NAS appliance via its integrated DVD-ROM drive.

FlexStor-NAS Servers are powered by Windows Storage Server 2003 R2 64-Bit operating system. Windows Storage Server allows the FlexStor-NAS to be used as a file server, domain controller, application server, web server, name server, print server, streaming media server, and more!

Windows Storage Server 2003 R2 includes Remote Desktop and an intuitive browser-based management interface, which allow system administrators to remotely manage the FlexStor-NAS Server from anywhere in the world. It also includes Volume Shadow Copy Service which makes storage and back up easier, while reducing demands on system administrators. Volume Shadow Copy technology enables you to retrieve old copies of deleted files right from your Windows desktop.

Not only is the FlexStor-NAS 1220dz great as a stand-alone network-attached storage device, but it is also highly expandable as well. Optional single or dual-channel Ultra320 SCSI controllers allow the FlexStor-NAS 1220dz to be connected to external Ultra320 SCSI-attached RAID subsystems to vastly increase your available fault-tolerant storage capacities. An external tape backup device can also be connected to this SCSI controller for disaster recovery.

Or for even higher throughput, choose the optional 2Gb or 4Gb Optical Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters available with either single, dual or quad-ports -- allowing you to expand the FlexStor-NAS 1220dz with multiple Fibre Channel-Attached RAID subsystems scaling up to an additional 100+ TeraBytes of storage.
