Enterprise 4322 3Gbps SATA-to-Ultra320 SCSI RAID series is ideal for building a shared storage pool for data backup. The subsystem has an Ultra320 SCSI host channel and four 3Gbps SATA disk drives in a smartly managed 1U 19" Rackmount enclosure.
Combining reliable storage capacity with 3Gbps SATA benefits such as high performance and dedicated bandwidth in a safe environment, the Enterprise 4322 RAID assures the highest level of data availability.
Supporting the complete list of RAID configuration levels, in the form of logical drives, logical volumes and logical partitions, the Enterprise 4322 RAID allows multiple RAID configurations to co-exist within one enclosure, each with a distinct write policy, stripe size, and optimization modes.
Adaptive designs assure sufficient throughput for a wide range of applications running on Windows 2000/2003/XP and Linux-based servers delivering reliable storage for today's demanding environments. The Enterprise 4322 RAID is ideal for archiving, business networks, storage consolidation, and other applications.
The Enterprise 4322 RAID provides quiet operation and unsurpassed reliability using sophisticated RAID firmware. To ensure reliability and uptime, the disk drives are redundant and hot-swappable. Two cooling fans supply sufficient airflow. The backplane-based design eliminates problems associated with cable connections between the controller and drives, and offers a higher level of serviceability.
The LED panel on the Enterprise 4322 RAID provides a convenient way to monitor the subsystem. In addition, a number of interface features to keep users constantly aware and automatically notified of subsystem status are included. The Enterprise 4322 RAID comes standard with an out-of-band Ethernet port for local or remote management using simple telnet protocol or feature-rich GUI management software. The management software provides graphical presentations of array components, monitoring windows, and all configuration options.
Additional features include specific functions and configuration options that control various I/O characteristics in order to meet the rapidly increasing requirements of today's applications. The functions include adaptable stripe size, adaptive write policy and guaranteed latency I/O which improves sequential write performance and ensures the fast and continuous flow of data.
Specially-designed utilities provide an easy way to store data while keeping it safe. One of these utilities retrieves data from degraded or damaged hard drives and handles low quality drives in both degraded mode and during the rebuild process. Other features include disk cloning, drive roaming, SMART, transparent resetting of non-responsive hard drives, and RAID parity update tracking and recovery.
Another utility combines enclosure monitoring and firmware management capabilities to minimize the chance of downtime caused by hardware failures. The auto data protection mechanisms were developed to ensure data safety. Other functions include event-triggered as well as other monitoring utilities and approaches combined with the powerful GUI management software. Component status, voltage and temperature readings, and system events are instantly revealed through the manager's graphical interface.
