The FibreMaster™ 16204 SBOD 3U Rackmount is an ultra high-density 3U 4-Gigabit Fibre Channel to 4-Gigabit Fibre Channel SBOD subsystem designed for the growing storage industry where increasing capacity exceeds available rack space. This high density combined with the 4-Gigabit/second loop-switched Fibre Channel architecture makes the FibreMaster 16204 SBOD an ideal solution for HDTV, video streaming, data warehousing, and many other applications that require large amounts of capacity and performance. Loop-switched architecture improves drive loop performance across Fibre Channel dual-loops, and the loop switches dynamically distribute data to individual disks.

The FibreMaster 16204 SBOD is designed for 24x7 operation with fully redundant and hot-swappable data path logic, power supplies, cooling and enclosure management functions. Disk drive trays are lockable as well at hot-swappable, and have mechanical properties which ensure excellent thermal, EMI and rotational vibration characteristics to support 15k RPM drives and 4Gb operation. Sixteen 4Gb Fibre Channel drives in a 3U rackmount enclosure represents industry leading capacity in this form factor, with absolutely no compromise in cooling capability up to 40°C ambient conditions. Highly effective cooling ensures your drives will provide the best possible Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF).

Two SES modules provide access to monitor/control all enclosure elements. These modules handle the status reports for all SBOD elements including hard drives, power supplies, cooling modules, and temperature. SES is implemented using the in-band method. The redundant SES module eliminates single points of failure, making the FibreMaster 16204 SBOD an excellent choice for mission-critical applications.

The FibreMaster 16204 SBOD's scalable design makes expansion easy when storage needs increase. Up to thirteen (13) FibreMaster 16204 SBODs can be cascaded off of a single FibreMaster F16fz or F16fz-HA RAID subystem, and up to fourteen (14) FibreMaster 16204 SBODs can be cascaded off of one SANgear 6002fsz Modular RAID Controller. The FibreMaster 16204 SBOD is also backwards compatible with the FibreMaster F16e and F16e-HA 2Gb Fibre Channel RAID subsystems. It is the ideal storage solution for applications requiring high data throughput, availability, and flexibility in configuration.
