Dynamic Network Factory last month debuted the Enterprise 16320 (2U, 12-drive, up to 3TB) and 16320 (3U, 16-drive, up to 4TB) SATA-to-Ultra320 SCSI RAID systems. Both models can be configured with as much as 1GB of cache memory and come with dual host connections and optional dynamic volume sharing capability. RAID support includes levels 0, 1, 0+1, 3, 5, 30, and 50, as well as JBOD configurations.

Dynamic Network Factory has announced the VTL 8000sa and 4000sa Virtual Tape Library appliances. Both units are designed to back up data to disk, rather than tape. The VTL 8000sa supports up to 3.5 terabytes (TB) of compressed storage or 1.75 TB of raw storage. Similarly, the VTL 4000sa offers 1.5 TB compressed and 750 gigabytes of raw storage. The systems support RAID levels 1, 5, or 10 for data integrity. Both can work in Linux or Windows environments and use FalconStor Software’s IPStor Virtual Tape Library software to manage backups. The systems are priced at less than $2.50 per gigabyte.

Dynamic Network Factory's latest cross-platform virtual tape library appliances are aimed at smaller organisations. Both the VTL 4000sa and VTL 8000sa offer 150MB/s Serial ATA RAID controllers and up to 750GB (1.5TB compressed) or 1.75TB (3.5TB compressed) of storage space, respectively. The appliances use hard disks to emulate industry-standard tape libraries, and promise to speed up archiving and retrieval of data previously stored on tape. The appliances also include a 2.6GHz Pentium 4 processor, 1GB of memory (expandable to 4GB), support for up to four hot-swappable Serial ATA hard disks (10 disks on VTL 8000sa), and dual-channel Ultra320 SCSI controllers. The 8000sa is available in either a tower or 4U rackmount format, but with the VTL 4000sa you only get the choice of a tower enclosure.

Dynamic Network Factory has released the FireFly 4800 RAID tower. Sporting a 9-inch footprint, the FireFly 4800 features USB 2.0 and FireWire 400/800 connectivity. It stripes data across four IDE drives simultaneously, and it supports RAID 0, 1, 1+0, 5 and 5+hot spare. It's compatible with Mac OS 9.x or OS X v.10.x or higher and comes in 320GB, 480GB, 640GB, 800GB and 1TB capacities for US$1,794, $1,957, $2,046, $2,290 and $1,995, respectively. The 1TB price is a special promotion that expires at the end of May. After that, the price will be $2,495.

Dynamic Network Factory has announced the FireFly 4800 RAID tower, which integrates USB 2.0 and FireWire 400/800 connectivity in a ultra-compact unit with storage capacity ranging from 320GB to 1TB. The FireFly 4800 offers a small 9" footprint, four IDE drives for data storage, audible failure notifications, and support for hardware-based RAID 0, 1, 1+0, 5, and 5+hot spare. A second FireWire port allows users to daisy-chain up to 62 additional units. The unit features builtin 200 watt power supply, a hot-swappable fan, an LCD Panel for Operation Status Display, and driverless operation. Pricing starts at $1,800.
