Allows two VTL Appliances to be configured as an active-active cluster to eliminate single point of failure (SPOF) via transparent fail-over and fail-back capabilities. Whenever a member of the cluster fails, its workload will be shifted to its companion without interrupting the application hosts. Each member of the failover pair requires a separate VTL Software Appliance Kit and Active-Active Failover Option License.
IP Based Replication Option
Replicates the virtual tape cartridges, based on policy, from one VTL appliance to another over the IP network. Individual option license is required for each VTL Appliance.
Compression Option
Compresses the data stream to maximize bandwidth utilization. For use with IP-based Replication option.
Encryption Option
Encrypts data stream to ensure end-to-end security/privacy. For use with IP-based Replication option.
IBM 3494 Library Support Option
Enables the VTL Appliance to connect to and manage IBM 3494 tape libraries for the purpose of importing/exporting virtual tapes from/to physical tapes.
IBM iSeries Support Option
Allows IBM iSeries and AS/400 systems to connect to the VTL appliance and make use of the virtual tape drives and/or libraries. Requires OS/400 V5 R1 or later to support Fibre Channel.
Hosted Backup Enabler Option
Allows certified backup applications to be installed directly onto the VTL appliance, eliminating the need for a dedicated backup server. Because the backup application is hosted by the appliance, it can increase performance by directly accessing the virtual tape libraries without relying on external Fibre Channel or IP connections.
NDMP Backup Support Option
Allows certified backup applications and industry standard NAS appliances to perform backup and restore using the NDMP protocol over an IP network.

Input an estimate of the amount of storage you will need. Your available storage capacity will decrease depending on the RAID level you choose. Do not include hot spares in your raw storage calculation.
Input the amount of data you currently have in use. This will be used to generate an estimate on the number of disks you will need for this amount of available storage, after accounting for the RAID level.
