IMAGING
Broadly speaking, imaging refers to any application that involves the creation, storage, and manipulation of visual data. Target fields include geographical imaging, such as GIS, medical imaging (PACS/DICOM), satellite imaging, surveillance, and many others where large quantities of optically-acquired information must stored. In many cases, transfer times are not mission-critical, but rather determine the user experience. While satellite imaging may require sustained write speeds equivalent to the data transmission rate, the majority of value in imaging systems is on the retrieval side. The faster your system, the more quickly a doctor can load MRI images and diagnose a patient -- to give one example. Overall, sequential performance is paramount, often with more weight on read performance. Look below for a few choice imaging-ready systems and feel free to browse through our product menu. This modular system is based on the robust M4 NAS head, to which we attach Ultra320 SCSI-host storage subsystems. A common imaging implementation places the data index or content database on up to 1TB of fast 10,000 RPM storage within the M4, while storing raw information on over 16TB of attached 16320 RAID subsystems. Advanced RAID levels, such as 5+0, offer superior uptime and performance relevant to imaging applications.
Designed for maximum expandability, this modular RAID system allows you to reach storage capacities of up to 205TB. Dual active-active modular RAID controllers ensure transparent fail-over and extract excellent performance from the high-capacity storage subsystems.
